Version Control - dev environment using Git

In this workshop will be an introduction on how to use git and github to contribute to Joomla's development and how to embrace these tools for the development of your own extensions.

You wil learn:
-some basic theory about Distributed version control systems
-key differences between SVN and git
-to use git on the command line
-how to use github for your own projects
-how to contribute to the Joomla Platform project on github

Target audience: Developers of all skill levels who either want to contribute to the Joomla development or want to use git for their own development.

You will need to have git installed and a github account. You should also be able to use the command line. Previous knowledge of SVN is helpful but not required.
